This is a super easy costume to make, even if you only have a day before Halloween to make it.  It can be made for a little person, or even a big person.
Here is my little person.  I can hardly stand how cute she looks.  Such a little sweetie!








Ok here is how I made the tail...
Get a wire hanger. you only need one.  cut off one end and bend it to your liking.


Wrap the tail-shaped wire hanger in fuzzy furry feather stuff.  (I have no clue what you call it, but you can buy it at ANY fabric store by the yard.  I got mine at Walmart)  Hot glue into place as you go.

Keep wrapping and gluing.

Finally, attach it to some elastic the size of your waist or your little person's waist, and there you have it.  A tail that actually stays up and stays put.
  (I attached it with hot glue, and secured it with a little piece of felt.)



And now for the Ears.  These took me a little while to figure out.  The key is to not make them too heavy or too big.  Here is the magic combination for ears that will stay put even for the littlest of kitties.

Cut a piece of felt the shape of a cat ear.  I stitched a little satin piece on the top to make it extra cute and to add a little dimension.

Hot glue the awesome fuzzy stuff on the outer edge of the ear.

Gather the bottom of the ear together and stitch or hot glue into place.  I stitched it for extra durability.

Hot glue some clips on the back.

I put my little girl's hair into pig tails and simply clipped the ears on.
Easy as pie, and cute as can be!
Best Part, because they are not on a headband she won't be tempted to rip them off her head.  Wahoo, 10 points for mom!


Now for the hard part... drawing on some whiskers and a little nose.  Only one day to figure out how in the world I will do that with this little wiggly one year old....

P.S.  Halloween was AMAZING!  I did it!!!  I drew some whiskers on successfully!! 





 And here is a little secret to remove makeup from your little cutie when trick-or-treating is done...


Just rub a tiny amount of coconut oil to the makeup and wash away with a warm washcloth.  It is like a magic eraser and it won't irritate baby's skin!  AWESOME!

DIY: Thankful Turkey

I know, I know, it is Halloween eve...  I figure why not get a jump on the most wonderful holiday of the year, Thanksgiving.  My dad has always said that Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday.  When I was young I thought that it was because he enjoyed the food.  Now that I am older, I realize that he is a man full of gratitude, and is thankful for the opportunity to recognized what he has.  He is such a great example to me.
I want my children to realize all that they have been given.  I want them to be full of gratitude and have thankful hearts.  This year I am going to strive to make it a point for my three year old, and myself to think of something we are grateful each day in November.
Let me introduce Thankful Tom the Turkey.  His feathers are full of things that we are grateful for here at this Diva house.  I tried to think of things my little boy would be thankful for: legos, his sister, books, the sun etc.  
This is only an example.  
When we actually start this little thankful turkey on Thursday, I will have him decide what pictures to put up.  I want him to be in charge and have ownership over this little Thankful turkey.  By the end of the month I hope that our turkey will have a full set of feathers full of bright and wonderful things that he is thankful for.  I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Here is how I made him.
Cut out a turkey.  I used felt.  I just eyeballed it.
Hot glue the pieces together.

Hot glue magnets on the back of your turkey.

Such a cute little face...

Cut out card stock "feathers".  There should be enough for each day of the month.


Hot glue a little magnet on the back of each feather.


Each day add a feather with something your child is grateful for.


I will be hanging our Turkey on our garage door in the kitchen (in the inside).  This way whenever we leave the home, or are in the kitchen we will see our Thankful turkey and remember all the things we have been blessed with.



I seriously can't wait to start adding feathers!  
We are thankful, truly thankful for all that we have.

DIY: Diffuse Essential Oils Using A Candle Warmer

I'm really excited about this new discovery! My mother-in-law shared this wonderful secret with me a few days ago and I'm literally thrilled about it.



So, instead of using the wax cubes, which contain who knows what kind of chemicals and only mask odors, you can use essential oils and diffuse them into the air with your wax warmer.   
Fill the dish with water.
Choose whatever essential oil you love the most or need the most. I chose peppermint so my house smells like Christmas. Peppermint oil also helps you focus and concentrate when it's diffused into the air. Look at this list of oils and their benefits when diffused. Diffused oils can actually kill viruses  and bacteria in the air! I just love a clean home. 
Add a few drops and swish around with your finger.

Plug in and enjoy! This will evaporate so just be aware that you will need to refill it after a few hours.
The smell isn't quite as powerful as the wax cubes, but it definitely makes a home smell pleasant.
